Northwoods Haven Recovery provides outpatient addiction treatment services for adults across Minneapolis and the greater Twin Cities from our center in Hopkins, Minnesota. Everything begins with a chemical use assessment, which turns a worry into a diagnosis and a level of care. Around it sit DUI and court-ordered assessments and individual addiction counseling with your own licensed alcohol and drug counselor.

Which addiction treatment service do you need?
If you or someone you love may have a problem with alcohol or drugs, start with a chemical use assessment. It is an hour with a licensed counselor that establishes whether a substance use disorder is present, how severe it is, and which level of care fits. If a court, probation officer, or licensing office has asked you for an evaluation after a DWI, a DUI assessment is the same clinical work written up for that purpose.
And if you are already in treatment, or stepping down from it, addiction counseling is the individual work with your own counselor that runs through both of our outpatient programs.
Whatever the service, the answer is honest. If what you need is detox, residential care, or a mental health program, we say so and help you find it. Every caller leaves with resources.

What addiction treatment services does Northwoods Haven Recovery offer?
Chemical use assessments, DUI and court-ordered assessments, and individual addiction counseling. These sit around our two outpatient levels of care, the Intensive Outpatient Program and the Relapse Prevention Program.
Which service should I start with?
A chemical use assessment, for almost everyone. It establishes whether a substance use disorder is present, how severe it is, and which level of care fits. If you need an evaluation for court or licensing after a DWI, ask for a DUI assessment.
Do I need an assessment before starting treatment?
Yes. Every client at Northwoods Haven Recovery starts with a chemical use assessment. If you already have a recent one from another provider, send it over with your treatment plan or discharge summary and we will review it instead of repeating it.
Do you provide detox, inpatient, or residential care?
No. Every service and program here is outpatient. If you are in active withdrawal or need residential care, call us anyway and we will help you find a provider, then welcome you back when you are ready.
Can a family member call on behalf of someone?
Yes. About half of our calls come from a family member. You can ask a question without committing anyone to anything.
Does insurance cover these services?
We are in-network with Minnesota Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, HealthPartners, UnitedHealthcare, and Medica. Give us your plan information on the first call and we will verify your benefits and tell you plainly what is covered before you commit to anything.
